TOPSHAM — Topsham Public Library has announced that Maine poet Gary Rainford will read and sign copies of his new poetry collection, “Salty Liquor,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the library. Rainford was recently awarded an honorable mention in the 2014 Topsham Public Library Joy of the Pen writing competition, where he wowed the crowd with his performance of Nautica Pub, Across from the Citgo. Rainford lives on Swan’s Island year round with his wife and daughter. His poetry, shaped by tides and saltwater, is published in a wide range of literary magazines and university journals, including North Dakota Quarterly, Words and Images, Aurorean, Omphalos, Kindred, and Blast Furnace. Rainford was a featured poet on the Maine Poetry Express, and at The Roundup Writer’s Zine. He was Artist-in-Residence in Acadia National Park, and also received the Joy of the Pen 2014 Poetry Honorable Mention.
