LEWISTON — A Greene man trapped under his tractor was finally freed Saturday after spending more than two hours in below-freezing temperatures.

Kenneth Bragdon, 42, was hauling trees on his land on Buzzell Lane in Greene when a tree he was dragging became snagged on another tree, causing his 1953 Farmall tractor to overturn, according a news release by Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Bragdon contacted a family member by cellphone while pinned under the tractor in 15-degree temperatures for more than two hours, McCausland said.

The Greene Fire Department freed Bragdon, who was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he was being treated for internal injuries, McCausland said.

Maine State Police Trooper Nathan Jamo reported that the chain being used to haul the logs had been attached too high on the back of the tractor and caused it to flip end over end, McCausland said.
