STANDISH — The Schoolhouse Arts Center has announced auditions for the first show of its 2015 season will be “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Auditions will take place at Schoolhouse Arts Center from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, and from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2. Those auditioning should be prepared to do cold readings from the script.
“The Beverly Hillbillies” is a hilarious comedy that offers actors a unique opportunity to portray iconic and colorful characters from the memorable TV series. These include Jed Clampett and all his kin: Granny, Elly May, Jethro, Cousin Pearl, plus Mr. and Mrs. Drysdale and Miss Hathaway. There are also roles for teenage girls and adult males and females of various ages. Brush up on your Ozark accents and prepare to be a part of this comedy event. The show will be presented at Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performances from April 10-26. Rehearsal dates and times have not yet been announced. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays at the Schoolhouse Arts Center at 16 Richville Road, Route 114, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35.
