GREENSBORO, N.C. — Melanie Joy of Greensboro, N.C. has graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro on Dec. 11 with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies, concentrating in humanities.
Joy is the daughter of Timothy and Anita Joy of New Gloucester.
She graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 2004 and Central Maine Community College in 2009.
She is employed as a rate technician at the corporate office of Old Dominion Freight Line in Thomasville, N.C.

BOSTON — Brittany Martin, daughter of Jeanne and Dan Martin of Lewiston, has been named to the dean’s list with distinction with a 4.0 for the fall 2014 semester at Boston University.
A 2011 graduate of Lewiston High School, Martin is majoring in graphic design.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Lyndon State College has awarded two scholarships to Sarah Murphy of Monmouth.
The Alumni Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated academic achievement and community service, have completed 30 credit hours at Lyndon and have maintained a GPA of at least 3.0.
She also received a Faculty and Staff Scholarship. The Faculty and Staff Scholarship and Awards Committee selects students who have completed two semesters of full-time study at Lyndon and who have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Murphy is a senior majoring in atmospheric sciences-climate change.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Lyndon State College announced Marybeth Noonan of Raymond is a recipient of the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Scholarship. The award, created to encourage and help deserving broadcast students enter the field of broadcasting, is awarded to a student who demonstrates a record of academic success, leadership and service.
Noonan is a sophomore majoring in electronic journalism arts.

BILLINGS, Mont. — Aaron Bardier has completed his FAA instrument rating at Rocky Mountain College. Aaron is the son of Sandra Landry of Lewiston, Maine, and is a sophomore majoring in aeronautical science at Rocky Mountain College.
The aeronautical science program includes a four-year baccalaureate degree that prepares graduates for careers as professional pilots.
Aaron plans to complete his commercial pilot rating this year, which will also include training in glass cockpit aircraft, as another milestone toward his goal of flying for a commercial airline in the U.S.
Aaron graduated from Lewiston High School in 2013.

MEDFORD, Mass. — More than 3,000 students graduated from Tufts University on May 18, 2014 during a university-wide commencement ceremony with public policy expert Anne Marie Slaughter as the speaker.
