CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A bill reintroduced by U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen from New Hampshire and Susan Collins from Maine would expand access to national parks for disabled veterans.

The bill would give all veterans with a service-connected disability free, lifetime national parks passes for hunting, fishing and recreation.

The bill would amend the 2004 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, which specifies that veterans need to be classified as having a 100 percent permanent disability by the Department of Veterans Affairs to be eligible for a free pass. Active military and their families also receive the annual free passes.
