MONMOUTH — Local businesses, individuals and organizations are pulling together to fight cabin fever for the second Monmouth Chili Chowder Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Monmouth Fish & Game, 347 U.S. Route 202.
The event features awards for Best Chili, Best Chowder and Kickin’ Cornbread. Suggested donation to taste these culinary delights in $5 per person, $20 for families (up to six).
Proceeds will support the Families Helping Families Monmouth Fuel Assistance program started by Nancy Ludewig and Darlene Sanborn to help Monmouth families during difficult winter months and throughout the year.
Want to compete for bragging rights? Contact Darlene at 933-2557 or 446-6552 to register. There is no fee to enter. Register no later than Jan. 22. The winner in each category gets bragging rights for a year publicized on the Families Helping Families Monmouth Fuel Assistance Facebook page.
The Monmouth Chili Chowder Challenge will include family recipes from businesses, community organizations and individuals including the Monmouth Fire Department, the Monmouth Police Department, Norton/Davis Insurance, Monmouth Museum, Friends of Cumston Library and many others.
