RUMFORD — The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition is presenting a public forum on drug facts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Muskie Auditorium in Mountain Valley High School.

The forum will feature the Mountain Valley High School Peer Helpers group, Kelsey Arsenault, the RVHCC Drug Free Community Program Coordinator, said.

“The Peer Helpers group is going to hold a drug fact trivia game where they shatter the myths about drugs,” Arsenault said.

Arsenault added that the forum will have a specific focus on marijuana.

“The forum will present the latest data and science on marijuana, as well as data from the 2013 Maine Integrated Youth Healthy Survey showing how marijuana is affecting the River Valley,” Arsenault said.

The forum is free and open to the public.

“Many teens are not aware of the risks to their health, to their success in school and the dangers while driving under the influence,” Arsenault said. “When teens are given the scientific facts about drugs, they can be better prepared to make good decisions for themselves and they can share this information with others.”
