A. C. Pray Camp, Sons of Veterans, Auburn, met Tuesday evening. Past Commander John Folsom presented to the camp a set of complete maps of Mt. Auburn and Oak Hill cemeteries. For several months Mr. Folsom has worked on this matter and the idea was original with him. With the most painstaking care he has drawn maps of both cemeteries with a numbered square for every lot. It is expressly for the purpose of marking the graves of soldiers of the Civil War and the Sons of Veterans. By these maps and books these graves can be easily marked for the benefit of future generations. A book goes with the maps.

Lewiston police reported today that nearly $1,000 was taken during the night from De-Lar, Inc. at 35 Willow St., where a large safe was pried open. Entrance in the aluminum window and door firm was gained by breaking several panes of glass in a window at the rear of the building. A glass pane door leading into the office section was smashed and the office section ransacked. The safe door was completely removed, with the use of a sledgehammer. It is believed that last night’s job was by the same thieves who recently broke into the Hudson Bus Lines office; Sanborn Express Co.; Cloutier Lumber Co. and Beaulieu Moving and Storage.

Hugh “Bill” Briggs of Brigeen Farms has been known around the state for 55 years as a pioneer in new dairy breeding methods that have made the Maine dairy industry a leader in the field, said Chad Arms, dairy specialist with the Maine Cooperative Extension. Adrian Wadsworth, who has had a dairy farm on the Androscoggin River for 14 years, is a relative new-comer, but he’s earned a reputation, too, for promoting the dairy industry in Maine, Arms noted. The two Turner men are recipients of top Maine Dairy Industry Association awards. Briggs won the 1989 Maine Dairy Cattle Breeder Award, while Wadsworth was recognized for his service to the Maine Dairy Promotion Board.
