AUBURN — Esther M. Adams, 90, of Auburn passed away from a long illness on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Hospice Center in Auburn, after residing at the Marshwood Center in Lewiston.

She was born on June 20, 1924, and was a lifelong resident of Auburn. After marrying Kenneth N. Adams of Auburn, they lived on Sunset Avenue and later moved to Adams Avenue.

She was a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company early in her career; she also worked for CMMC and Bates College.

Esther dressed like a movie star and was very attractive; she had to have her hair done weekly by her longtime hairdresser, Lynn. She and her husband used to love to entertain with their parties on Saturday evenings and dining out with her many friends.

She loved to travel to Florida in the winter, where she worked at the Hillsboro Club in Pompano Beach and visited her parents in Hollywood, Fla. She loved her cat, Missy, and they were constant companions for each other.

While she was in Florida, she looked forward to visits with her grandson, Kenneth. They loved going out to eat and enjoying a good lobster by the ocean, as well as spending time at the beach and basking in the sunshine.

She is survived by her three children, Gary of Auburn, Mary Ellen of Lewiston and Bruce of Poland Spring; her three grandchildren, Kenneth, Amy and Tobie; daughters-in-law, Pamela W. Adams and Judith Adams; and son-in-law, Guy Lavalliere. She also leaves one sister, Betty Bibber of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alton and Mae McFadden of Auburn; and her husband, Kenneth.
