100 years ago, 1915
A remarkable man in many respects is F. M. Allen of Auburn. With only one arm he has become one of the most expert house painters in that city and the painter who follows him thru a day’s work will realize that he has not been idle. Mr. Allen works steadily at his trade and does as much work as the best of them.

50 years ago, 1965
The Lewiston-Auburn Occupational Training Center recently completed seven months of operation and the results have been gratifying, says its director. On June 10 of last year. the Training Center, which focuses its attention on local youngsters who cannot make the transition from school to the world of work, opened its doors at the High Street, Auburn, location to nine area teenagers who had completed their program in the special classes of the Lewiston-Auburn public schools. Six months later, each of the original trainees had been placed on permanent jobs ranging from nursing home attendants to shoe workers.

25 years ago, 1990
The Lewiston High School Band and Band Boosters are sponsoring a fund-raising activity, Super Bowl Sunday Super Sandwich, that will benefit their music program. Residents of Lewiston-Auburn may order Italian sandwiches (choice of ham or salami) for $3 each and have them delivered on Super Bowl Sunday, Jan. 28, to their home or Super Bowl party location. Mail orders will be taken and telephone orders will be accepted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
