I understand that state Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham, is proposing the death penalty for a person convicted of killing a child featured in a snuff film. The death penalty should be for all who are convicted of murder in Maine.
Maine’s superior courts should stop plea deals in murder trials. For years, people with criminal records longer than my arm have come to Maine from New York City, Boston and other cities. Maine has become a dumping ground of child predators and it has got to stop.
The last time Maine had a death penalty was in 1887, and it is time to bring it back. If someone takes a life, if convicted, they should be sentenced to life in prison or face the death penalty, not just get a sentence of 25 to 30 years.
Maine needs the death penalty.
