PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s utilities are reporting just a couple of dozen customers without power in the wake of a massive blizzard that left two feet or more of snow in its wake in some spots.

Central Maine Power Co. had 13 outages as of Wednesday morning; while Emera Maine was reporting 18.

Emera says because the snow was generally light and fluffy, it didn’t weigh down power lines.

Frozen ground also stabilizes utility poles.

Most outages, which peaked at about 1,500, were caused by high winds that reached 60 miles per hour.

Emera says it hopes to have everyone back online some time Wednesday.
