Gray-New Gloucester 60, Falmouth 36
GRAY — Senior forward Maria Valente recorded her 1,000th career point on a 3-point jump shot early in the fourth quarter to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 60-36 WMC girls’ basketball victory over Falmouth.
The Patriots (14-1) held Falmouth to eight points in each quarter after the first. Valente tossed a game-high 19 points, while sophomore guard Grace Kariotis chipped in 18.
Senior forward Ally Hickey netted a team-leading 13 points for the Yachtsmen (9-6).
Spruce Mountain 73, Leavitt 44
TURNER — Senior center Samantha Richards notched a game-high 21 points with 10 rebounds to lead Spruce Mountain to a 73-44 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
The Pheonix (15-0) remained undefeated as senior forward Emily Keene contributed 10 points.
The Hornets (6-9) out-rebounded Spruce Mountain 45-33. Sophie Gilbert notched team-high 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Mountain Valley 44, Oak Hill 37
RUMFORD — Junior guard Karen Flaherty netted a game-high 13 points to lead Mountain Valley to a 44-37 MVC girls’ basketball victory over Oak Hill.
The Raiders (10-6) got within three points on a pair of 3-point field goals midway through the fourth quarter, but the Falcons (9-5) pulled away. Junior center Sydney Petrie collected 12 points and seven blocks for Mountain Valley.
Senior point guard Sadie Goulet posted a team-leading 11 points for Oak Hill.
Mt. Blue 61, Edward Little 45
FARMINGTON — Caitlin Kane had 22 points and Addie Brinkman added 12 Thursday as Mt. Blue dispatched Edward Little, 61-45, in KVAC girls’ basketball.
The Cougars (10-5) stepped up the tempo in the second half, outscoring Edward Little 33-21. Eryn Doiron contributed 10 points for Mt. Blue.
Brooke Reynolds scored 21 points for the Red Eddies (12-4).
Lisbon 40, Mt. Abram 22
LISBON — Senior guard Mia Durgin posted 10 points to lead Lisbon to a 40-22 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball Thursday.
The Greyhounds (3-12) went on a 19-point tear in the third quarter. Sophomore guard Marya Beedy recorded a team-high nine points for the Roadrunners (2-13).
Dirigo 84, Telstar 38
DIXFIELD — Kelsey Hutchins scored 24 points, pulled down nine rebounds and credited with five assists and three steals and Dirigo ditched Telstar, 84-38, in MVC girls’ basketball game Thursday.
The Cougars (14-2) led 41-6 at the half. Jessica Conant scored 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had six assists and two steals for the Cougars. Sabrina Daoud chipped in 14 points and Lauren Henderson 13.
For Telstar, Becca Howard scored 16 points and Hayley Peterson scored 14.
Boys’ basketball
Madison 64, Monmouth 59 (OT)
MONMOUTH — Chase Malloy tabulated a game-high 23 points to lead Madison to a 64-59 overtime victory over Monmouth in MVC boys’ basketball Thursday.
The Mustangs (8-8) took a five-point lead in the first quarter. Luke Thombs netted a team-high 20 points for Monmouth.
Derek Leblanc contributed 22 points for Madison, which doubled up Monmouth 12-6 in OT.
Lisbon 64, Mt. Abram 40
LISBON — Senior forward Johnny Yim poured in a game-high 22 points to lead Lisbon to a 64-40 triumph over Mt. Abram in MVC boys’ basketball Thursday.
Yim tossed 11 of his 22 points in the first quarter as the Greyhounds (5-11) took a 17-9 first quarter lead, then led 38-19 at the midpoint. Jonah Sautter contributed another 11 points for Lisbon.
Senior forward Tristen Dyer posted a team-leading 14 points, including 10 from the charity stripe, for the Roadrunners (3-13).
Women’s basketball
CMCC 88, UMaine-Augusta 70
AUBURN — Gabby Foy planted 26 points for Central Maine Community College in an 88-70 triumph over the University of Maine at Augusta in women’s basketball action Thursday.
The Mustangs (13-4) capitalized on 32 turnovers and exercised their bench with a 31-2 margin over the Moose (10-9). Laura Soohey pitched in a team-leading 13 rebounds.
Carmen Bragg led the Moose with 20 points, while Jamie Plummer notched a game-high 16 rebounds.
