AUGUSTA — The Maine Senate has given approval to Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s nominee for finance chief.

The Republican-led Senate voted unanimously in favor of Richard Rosen becoming the commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services.

Rosen has been the acting commissioner of the department since former department head Sawin Millett stepped down in May.

The Bucksport resident served four terms in the state Senate and three terms in the House.

After that, he joined LePage’s administration as the director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Management and later the deputy commissioner of finance. He and his wife also owned and operated a department store in Bucksport for more than 35 years.

Rosen was unanimously approved by the Appropriations Committee last week.
