1929 – 2015

WINTHROP—Mildred Angeline Audette, 85, a former resident of Livermore Falls, went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, Feb. 6, at Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1929, in New Bedford, Mass., one of 11 children born to Edward Freitas and Mary (Amaral) Freitas. She was educated at Bliss Corner School in Dartmouth.

Mildred moved in 1978 from Fall River, Mass., to Maine, where she remained until her passing.

Mildred was a member of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls.

She loved to go riding, play bingo, do puzzles and attend summer concerts in Dixfield.

Mildred was famous for her spaghetti sauce, which everyone loved, her chili and her kale soup. Mildred was a kind and caring person and was known as Miss Millie to her many friends.

Mildred worked various jobs in her life, but her most rewarding was her family; she especially loved family gatherings. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her four sons, Clifford Audette and his wife, Laurette, of Farmington; Greg Benson and his wife, Robin, of Portland; David Freitas and his wife, Francis, of Florida; and Darryl Benson of New Hampshire; three daughters, Pam Flaherty, and Deborah Samson of Livermore Falls; and Carol Benson and partner, Amy, of Jay; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward and Richard Freitas of Dartmouth, Mass.; sisters and their husbands, Hilda and Wallace Sylvia of Dartmouth; Claire and Ronnie Pickering of New Bedford, Mass., and Norma Sharpentier of Fairhaven, Mass.

She was predeceased by her children, Beverly, Roy and Myron Benson Jr.; her parents; brothers, George and Herbert Freitas; and sisters, Isabelle White, Dot Enos and Alice Lecuyer.
