NORWAY — Norway-Paris Fish & Game will hold its annual ice fishing derby on Feb. 21 and 22. As in past years, fish from any pond or lake here in Maine is eligible. The club offers cash prizes for bass, togue, pike, salmon, pickerel, brown trout, brook trout/splake in the adult category. The juniors winners receive a trophy for the largest fish in all categories and a special prize for the largest fish of any species.
This year the club is encouraging anyone who has a child who would like to spend some time ice fishing to bring the child to the Little Red School House, Route 118, on Norway Lake and club volunteers will cut the holes, provide the traps and bait, assist the child in setting the traps and provide help during the day.
Any adult assisting a child must have a Maine fishing license.
Weighing in will be from sunrise to sunset at the Little Red School House.
Tickets are $1 and enter participants into a drawing for donated prizes.
Visitors are invited to stop by for lunch, stories and homemade goodies.
