FARMINGTON — Superintendent Tom Ward of Temple, who is in the second year of a three-year contract with Regional School Unit 9, will lead the district through June 30, 2018.

The school board voted to renew his three-year contract Tuesday night after a brief executive session, Ward said. No salary was negotiated.

He was hired at a salary of $122,000 for the first two years of his contract, with the third year to be determined at a later date.

The 1972 graduate of Mt. Blue High School started in the district July 1, 2013.

He was previously superintendent of RSU 10 in the Rumford, Mexico, Dixfield and Buckfield areas.

Ward’s career includes working as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal/athletic director and principal of Mt. Blue High School in Farmington. He also was principal at Dirigo High School in Dixfield and returned to Mt. Blue as principal for eight years. He then was principal of the then-School Administrative District 35’s Marshwood High School in South Berwick for eight years and superintendent of then-SAD 21 in Dixfield for six years before the consolidation to RSU 10, which he led for four years.
