HARRISON (AP) — Authorities say a kite-skier has died after striking a metal shed in Harrison, Maine.

Chief Deputy Naldo Gagnon of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office says 49-year-old Adam Tsapis was on Crystal Lake at about 11 a.m. Monday using a kite to propel him across the snow when his kite was caught by a gust of wind that lifted him off of the ice. He drifted ashore and struck the shed.

Gagnon said Tsapis’ suffered traumatic injuries to his leg and arm.

He said Tsapis was taken to Bridgton Hospital first and then flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he died from his injuries.
