1957 – 2015
HARTFORD — Donald Hinson, 57, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 21.
He was born March 1, 1957, in Brockton, Mass., to Charles W. Hinson and Anita Y. Hinson (Pomerleau). He graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in 1975. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 as an E-4 Specialist in the Armed Calvary Division stationed in Germany.
He also worked as an auto mechanic for many years, and most recently worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Lisbon.
Donald loved riding his Harley-Davidson with his family and friends, a group known as “The Frogs.” He also enjoyed snowmobiling, fixing anything with an engine and above all, spending time with his treasured family. He showed pride for his family as well as his country and fellow service men and women.
His wonderful sense of humor, big heart and Saturday morning breakfasts will be deeply missed.
Donald is survived by his father, Charles Hinson of Auburn; his son, Steven M. Hinson and his wife, Jessie, of Otisfield; his sister, Suzanne Smith (Hinson) and her husband, Adam, of Auburn; his brothers, William Hinson and his wife, Debbie, of Lewiston, and Steven Hinson and his wife, Kimberly, of Auburn; his grandchildren, Colby Bragdon, Sierra Hinson and Alayna Hinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lifelong friends include Dan Rand, Steve Mercier, Jim Monroe and Kenny Daigle Jr.
He was predeceased by his mother, Anita Hinson.
