FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon at noon Saturday, March 14.
The menu for this month includes macaroni and cheese with ham, green beans and cake.

March 14 contradance in Farmington
FARMINGTON — A contradance will be held from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Farmington Grange, Bridge Street, West Farmington.
There will be no family dance this month. Regular contra will be offered with the Racket Factory playing and Kim Roberts calling.
Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for students or $15 family max.
All dances are taught. Beginners are welcome. No partner is necessary.

Cookout at the Whistle Stop Trailhead
FARMINGTON — The Shiretown Riders Snowmobile Club will hold a cookout at the Whistle Stop Trailhead in West Farmington from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and coffee will be sold. Warm up at the fire pit while learning about the snowmobile club and its activities. Maps will also be available for sale.
Cross-country skiers, snowshoe enthusiasts and all others who use the trail are encouraged to stop by to see what’s happening.

JAY — A teen dance for grades six to 12 will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the VFW. Cost is $5. Bottled water and soda will be available for $1.

Jay Amvets plan dinner, dance
JAY — A St. Patrick’s Day dinner and dance will be held Saturday, March 14, at the Amvets hall.
Tickets in advance are $15 per person.
Menu will be ham, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, dessert, coffee and tea.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with the dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. The Dirty McCurdy Band will play.

Free movie night for teens
LIVERMORE FALLS — Rooted Youth and Americorps are partnering with Emmanuel Assembly of God to provide a free movie night at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14. EAG is providing the venue but this is not a church event.
There will be games, snacks and a showing of “The Giver.”

Free big mountain training day
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — On Sunday, March 15, Carrabassett Valley Academy freestyle program director Nathan Mckenzie will offer a free big mountain training day at Sugarloaf Mountain. The day will consist of training and instruction around big mountain competitive skiing while exploring Sugarloaf’s backcountry terrain.
“This training day will be a great opportunity for young skiers who want to learn more about competitive big mountain skiing,” said McKenzie. “At the end of the day we will also have an information session for parents.”
The free program is for skiers 8 years or older and will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Those interested should contact Nathan McKenzie at 207-441-4759 for more information or to reserve a spot. Registration will be first-come first-serve and restricted to eight participants.
Emblem Club plans basket bingo
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Emblem Club No. 460 will host Basket Bingo, with Longaberger baskets as prizes, on Sunday, March 15, at the Farmington Elks Lodge. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo will start at 1 p.m.

Mt. Blue Area Garden Club speaker
FARMINGTON — Brent Laflin will be the featured speaker at the next Mt. Blue Area Garden Club meeting on Tuesday, March 17, at the Trinity United Methodist Church on the Farmington Falls Road.
His topic will be “Making a Rustic Garden Trellis.”
Members and guests will meet at 6 p.m. for a half-hour social gathering. At 6:30 Laflin will teach the art of constructing a garden trellis using simple and cost-effective materials.
Hostesses will be Mary Green, Janet O’Neil and Karen Clary, who will be offering desserts and a beverage.

Storytellers group to meet March 19
FARMINGTON — The monthly meeting of the WOODS (Western Order of Dedicated Storytellers) Storytelling Guild will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Farmington Public Library on Academy Street.
All who are interested in storytelling are invited. Telling is optional.
Treat Memorial Library bottle drive
LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library will hold a bottle drive on Friday, March 20, and continue on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22.
Trustee John Beaudoin and some friends will drive house to house collecting recyclable bottles and cans that they will redeem at Four Winds Too redemption center at 68 Main St.
Anyone may participate by delivering their bottles ahead of time to Four Winds Too and mentioning that they are for the Treat Memorial Library.
All funds raised will go toward making the gardens flourish (and flowerish).

Supper at American Legion planned
LIVERMORE FALLS — George Bunten Post 10, American Legion, will hold a supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the hall at 17 Reynolds Ave. Cost for adults is $7; kids under 12, $4. Menu includes homemade baked beans, red hot dogs, biscuits, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, assorted casseroles and vegetables, desserts and coffee.
Delivery is available to local addresses.
