Rumford Area Quilters to meet Thursday
RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street.
A representative from Newborns in Need will speak on the program, and a demonstration on mitered borders will be presented. The next step for the Mystery Quilt will be available. Show and tell welcome.

St. Patrick’s event March 14
RUMFORD — A St. Patrick’s dance and supper will take place Saturday, March 14, at the Snowshoe Club, Waldo Street.
The dinner will be from 5 to 6 p.m. The menu will include corned beef, ham, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, turnip and dessert. Cost is $9; children 12 and under, $5.
The dance, with music by The Gallant Boys & Friends, will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Members and guests are welcome.
Public supper at the ‘Green Church’
RUMFORD — A public supper will be served at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”).
The menu will be roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots and peas, applesauce, and homemade rolls and pies. The price for adults is $8; $3 for children under 12.
Take-out will be available at 5:30 p.m.; call 364-8603.
Following the meal, those who wish to may participate in an auction of whole pies to take home. The auction is a special fundraiser for a permanent sign on the church lawn.
St. Patrick’s dinner at Rumford Eagles
RUMFORD — A St. Patrick’s Day dinner will take place from 4:30 p.m. until sold out Monday, March 16, at the Rumford Eagles Bingo Hall, 13 Oxford Ave.
Corned beef or ham will be the choices.
Cost is $7.
All proceeds will benefit Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Members of the class of 1949 will meet for their regular monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, at the River Valley Grill in Rumford Center.

Music for Hope March 20
RUMFORD — Fawn and Noel’s Music for Hope will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Hope Association, 85 Lincoln Ave.
The event is open to the Public. Refreshments will be available. Donations welcome and will benefit Hope Association.
Happy Rebels fundraiser March 21
RUMFORD — Due to a winter storm, the fundraiser planned by Emma’s Happy Rebels for Feb. 14 will now be held on Saturday, March 21.
It will take place at the Eagles hall, 13 Oxford Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. to view the raffles and action items.
From 8 p.m. to midnight DJ Bustin Justin Hamner will entertain.
There will be hourly drawings for prizes. Auction items include a Patriots shirt, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe portraits, Red Sox plaques and more. The event offers fun while helping athletes.
Tickets at the door are $10 per person, or if you wear Special Olympic medals, ribbons or come with an athlete it’s $5 per person.
‘Fish Fry’ in Rumford March 20
RUMFORD — The Fry-Day Night Lenten Fish Fry will be held starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, until sold out, St. Athanasius and St. John Church Hall, 126 Maine Ave. All are welcome.
Optional will be homemade mac and cheese with green beans.
Cost is $10 for adults, $7 under age 12, free for age 3 and under. Take-out will be available. Credit cards accepted.
Proceeds benefit Holy Savior Catholic School.

Petrie family benefit March 21
RUMFORD — A benefit event for the Petrie family will take place Saturday, March 21, at the Eagles, 13 Oxford Ave.
Jay and Lynn Petrie are both fighting Lyme disease and are unable to work.
A spaghetti supper will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a speaker on Lyme disease at 6 p.m. A live auction will be at 7 p.m. A dance, featuring Roadhouse, will be from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 throughout the night.
The cost for supper is $10; children 10 and under, $5. Cost for the dance is $10; supper and dance, $15.

PERU — A free community soup and chowder lunch will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at Peru Baptist Church, 98 Main St., across from the post office.
