Four years ago, Sarah Legare swagged the Emmys.

Last month, she swagged Oscar.

The owner of EllieAnna Purse Co. on Main Street in Lewiston said she had about a week after being asked to make and deliver 150 small wristlets for the Latino Film Industry post-Oscar party swag bags. The colorful, zippered bags are big enough to hold a debit card and lipstick. Or, if you’re an enterprising business owner, you tuck information about your company and wholesale discounts inside.

With all the parties thrown in Los Angeles, Legare said, “you never know whose hands the bags are going to end up in.”

She’d been invited to the post-awards party herself but given the time crunch, couldn’t make it. At least not this year.

“I have mentioned next year if they’re still doing this and they’d like us to contribute again and we have a little bit of a heads-up, I would love to go out there and they said absolutely,” Legare said. “How cool would that be?”

New owners

The former site of eWaste in Lewiston has a new owner.

Lewiston Gardiner Properties LLC sold the industrial building at 167-183 River Road to 167 River Road LLC on Feb. 4 for $800,000, according to a release from CBRE/The Boulos Co. Erik Urbanek of Commercial Properties Inc. and Christopher Paszyc of Boulos brokered the deal.

Paszyc said the building had been used by eWaste for processing electronic waste, but that work recently moved to a site in Gardiner. New owners aren’t ready to talk about their plans, he said.

Down the road, the Durham Leisure Center also has a new owner. The nine-site RV campground on 86 acres at 24 Leisure Lane was sold to Durham Leisure Holdings LLC by the Estate of Harold Cochrane for $360,000.

Kevin Fletcher of Malone Commercial Brokers and Sandra Reid of Coldwell Banker brokered the deal. Fletcher said Durham Leisure Holdings plans to renovate the campground.

Hospital sightings

There’s a bold “SOLD” sign on the former Book Burrow at 593 Center St. in Auburn, at the high-profile spot in the corner of the Kmart parking lot. The building has been empty and for sale for some time.

Commercial broker Chad Sylvester at Fontaine, who brokered the deal with Bruce Holmes at Century 21, said the building has been bought by Central Maine Medical Center.

Outside the Auburn Mall, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is opening a quick care facility in the back half of the Aspen Dental building. That lease was brokered by Sylvester and Craig Young at Boulos.

Additional information wasn’t available about either project Thursday.
