Two Franklin County towns are world leaders when it comes to producing particular wood products, the president of Forster Manufacturing Co. said Friday. “Strong has always been the leading producer of wood toothpicks, and today it is clearly in that position as the world leader,” Richard Corbin told a group of local residents who attended a public breakfast forum. “Wilton leads the world in the manufacture of backyard croquet sets,” he added. Corbin described new strategies for marketing Forster’s toothpick and clothespin lines. Construction on a new plant at Forster’s facility in East Wilton will begin this spring, representing a $9 million investment in the expansion of the company’s plastic fork and spoon manufacture, he said.
