LEWISTON — Shriners from throughout New England will be in L-A this weekend for a two-day conference to prepare for a much larger event this fall.
Members from 14 Shrine centers in New England will plan for the 2015 Northeast Shrine Association Fall Field Days set for Sept. 17 to 20, which is expected to draw an estimated 3,000 participants from New England and Canada. It’s the first time the event has been held in the Twin Cities.
Some of the organization’s top officials will be here this weekend, including Imperial Potentate Sir Dale W. Stauss of Grand Forks, N.D., president of the board of directors of Shriners International, and Imperial Sir Douglas E. Maxwell of Chesterfield, Mo., chairman of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Board of Trustees.
While much of this weekend’s 2015 Northeast Shrine Mid-Winter Meeting will involve planning and organizational activities at the Kora Shrine Center in Lewiston, members are expected to take a trip Friday to Oxford Casino and attend a performance of the Kora Highlanders at Gritty’s in Auburn on Saturday evening before a banquet finale at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.
The four-day fall event in Lewiston-Auburn will feature a large Shriners parade in downtown Lewiston on Sept. 19.
