1934 – 2015
CANTON — Geraldine “Gerry” M. LeBlanc, 80, of Canton and Dade City, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, at Zephyrhills, Fla.
Geraldine was born in Carthage on March 12, 1934, the daughter of Everett and Leona (Trask) Webster. She attended schools in Mexico, graduating from Mexico High School in 1951.
In 1953, she married Rene J. LeBlanc of Canton. They first made their home in Mexico and later moved to Canton, where they raised their three children.
Since retirement, they have spent the winter months at their home in Dade City, Fla., returning to Maine for the summer. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Feb. 16.
Geraldine was an active member of the North American Family Campers Association, where she served most recently as treasurer for the State of Maine. She was also a member of the Maine Rover’s Chapter 126 in Jay and Pine Tree Chapter 33 in Buckfield. She was a communicant of the Holy Savior Catholic Church in Rumford and St. Rita in Dade City, Fla.
Geraldine enjoyed traveling with her family to various locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, camping and traveling in their motor home. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family and friends. She was also a musician and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, and teaching others to do the same.
Geraldine worked as a bookkeeper at Lazaro’s in Mexico, Pinewood Press in Canton and Bailey Brothers Ford in Livermore Falls. For years, she was the accountant/office manager for her husband’s motorcycle sales and television businesses.
Geraldine was known for her friendly and outgoing personality, always looking at the positive side of life. She was the heart of her family and an inspiration to all who knew her. She never failed to bring a smile to the faces of others. She had many close friends who thought of her as a “sister” or as “my other mother.”
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Catherine Newman and husband, Ralph, of Canton, and Patricia Richards and husband, Peter, of Canton; a son, Rene (Joey) LeBlanc and wife, Melinda, of Chesterville; granddaughters, Michelle Ouellette and husband, Cory, of Stratham, N.H., Denise Kidder of Dixfield, Mallory LeBlanc of Sarasota, Fla., and Brooke LeBlanc of Farmington; grandsons, Brandon LeBlanc and wife, Melissa, of Dixfield and Alex LeBlanc and wife, Diana, of Manhattan, Kan.; great-grandsons, Caleb Turner, Cameron and Dylan Kidder of Dixfield; sister, Evelyn Kenney of Rumford; sister-in-law, Carol Webster of Lincoln; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Louise LeBlanc of Jay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Geraldine was predeceased by her parents; brother, Walter Webster; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alyre and Anna LeBlanc; brother-in-law, James Kenney; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alfred and Rose LeBlanc.
