LEWISTON — Hubert I. Marcotte, 86, of 12 O’Connell St., Lewiston, died Sunday, March 15, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
Born in Suncook, N.H., on June 27, 1928, he was the son of Hubert and Marie Michaud Marcotte. On Oct. 16, 1950, he married the former Elaine Joan Gilbert. She passed away in 1997.
He served with the U.S. Army in the 1950s, and went on to work for Bonafide, Knapp Shoe and Philips Elmet prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Parish.
Hubert loved the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR, and enjoyed camping and listening to country music.
Survivors include his son, Michael Marcotte of Lewiston; daughter, Patricia Marcotte of Brunswick; former son-in-law, Dale Filion of Wales; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, stepgrandchildren, and great-stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Leon Gilbert, Robert Biron and Eudore Berube; sister-in-law, Yoshiko Gilbert; and former sister-in-law, Lillian Gilbert.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four sisters, Beatrice Berube, Grace Strout, Anita Marcotte and Florence Battiste; and his father-in-law and and mother-in-law, Arsibial and Lelia Gilbert, whom he respected and adored.
