NORWAY — The fire station is lit up.
Selectmen were told Thursday night that the station on Danforth Street now has energy-efficient lights.
Fire Chief Dennis Yates said 104 lights were taken down and 20 were put up.
“It made a big difference,” Yates, an electrician, said. The electrical cost should also be less, he said.
The lights were purchased under a new Efficiency Maine program.
The station has some fluorescent lights that are 25 years old and others that are being replaced.
In other news, Town Manager David Holt said the situation with the “disorderly house” at 438 Main St. remains the same. The tenant who is believed to be at the heart of the problems has agreed to move. If he does not, landlord Jon Belanger said the man will be evicted.
Selectmen held a public hearing on the issue two weeks ago. The board has the right to make a consent agreement with the owner of the building or turn the case over to the town attorney, who can take it to court.
In other news, the board granted a license to Stone-Smart American Legion Post 82 for a game of chance at 6 p.m. Mondays at its hall at 212 Main St.
