RANGELEY — The Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association will host wilderness first aid and Registered Maine Guide courses next month.
The first aid course will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19; the Registered Maine Guide course, April 23 to 26. Both are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the association clubhouse in Oquossoc.
The first aid course is designed for Registered Maine Guides, trip leaders, backpackers, campers and those who enjoy the backcountry. It will provide instruction on first aid and basic care in remote locations and include cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
The guide course will provide comprehensive instruction on the information needed to prepare for the hunting, fishing and recreational guide tests administered by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
The courses will be administered by Maine’s Outdoor Learning Center.
The fee for the first aid class is $195; the guide course, $495.
Class size will be a minimum of six and maximum of 16 students. Deadline for registration is Friday, April 17. Preregistration is required. Contact Tami at 207-290-1496 or maineguideschool@roadrunner.com.
