The website at www.vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces needs our help in finding photos of these Vietnam vets from Lewiston-Auburn who lost their lives in the war: Reginald Nicholas of Auburn; Harold E. Walker, Jr. of Auburn; Harold G. Breton of Lewiston; Normand C. Deschaine of Lewiston; Roland P. Guerette of Lewiston; Richard W. Rossignol of Lewiston; Charles H. Soule of Lewiston; William E. Spencer of Lewiston; Ronald M. Thomas, II of Lewiston; and Paul R. West of Lewiston.

To see all Vietnam veterans from Maine who were killed in the war, go to www.vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces and click on the Advanced search button which will give you options to choose county, city, state, etc. The results will show you which veterans have photos and which have the generic icon.

If any readers have photos of the veterans with missing photos, they can be uploaded directly from your computer to the website by clicking on the name of the veteran, selecting “submit photo” and then uploading the photo. You will be asked to fill in your name, email and zip code. Or you can email the photo to me at dickbarker121@gmail.com and let me know the name of the veteran in the photo.

I think this would be a great project for a local school to work on, too. Thank you for your help. — Dick Barker.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Again I write to you with a question and I’m not even sure I am writing the right department. In the paper the other day there were colleges with their postings of dean’s list students.

On Oct. 22, 2014 my grandson graduated from Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas as an airman first class. His dad, dad’s fiancee and I went down for all the festivities.

Jonathan graduated from Lewiston High School this past June as a colonel, having been in ROTC all four years of school. He went on to study aircraft armament systems at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Tx. and Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, Florida before continuing on to his first post at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We are so very proud of Jonathan yet nothing has come out in the paper. We can’t help but wonder why. We have seen other graduates from military places, but not Jonathan. Again, we wonder why. Thanks. — J.B. in Lewiston.

ANSWER: It is the responsibility of schools to ask students to supply the names of their hometown newspapers so that the schools can send those dean’s lists and graduate lists to the newspapers on record.

You would need to ask the school, or Air Force base where Jonathan went to school, if they ask students for that information. The Sun Journal does not contact thousands of schools to get those lists; the schools submit them as press releases.

There are occasions in which we have a backlog of dean’s lists and graduate lists and they are published as soon as possible in the order received. We do not have a backlog of Military Notes at this time.
