1942 – 2015

LEWISTON — Jeannine E. Laplume, 73, of Lewiston, accepted the Will of God at her final judgement on Thursday, March 26, at Montello Manor.

She was born in Woonsocket, R.I., on Feb. 5, 1942, the daughter of Romeo and Lilliane Laramee, and she grew up and attended schools in Woonsocket.

On Sept. 1, 1975, she and Raymond S. Laplume were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Woonsocket, and they renewed their wedding vows last year with friends and family present.

Before getting sick, her greatest joys were serving her parish and being a wife, mother and grandmother. God was very important in her life, and as were Jesus, Mary and all of the saints, who guided Jeannine and her husband’s transfer from Rhode Island to Lisbon Falls 31 years ago.

She worked for L.L. Bean in manufacturing, retail, OFC and merchandise prep, and became an emergency technician for the company, providing first aid during work hours. Jeannine was also a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, earning her 1,000 hours pin in 2008-2009.

She was a member of the prayer group at the former Holy Family Parish in Lisbon Falls, now Holy Trinity Church, which became her family away from family, where many friends helped them during their hard times to settle down. While there, she also served as lector, Eucharistic minister and altar-server trainer, set up for funerals and served as an altar server. She was a Eucharistic guardian at Holy Cross Adoration Chapel every Friday Night, and a sacristan for the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Her hobbies were sewing, arts and crafts and playing her guitar.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of 39 years, in which they produced five wonderful children; her daughter, Nicole Webb, her husband, USAF Master Sergeant Jeff and their son, Kyle, stationed in Alabama; her son, USAF Major Pierre Laplume and his wife, Debbie, stationed in Louisiana; her son, Paul Laplume, wife, Jennifer and their sons, Julian and James Lamson-Laplume, of Freeport; her son, author Anthony Laplume of Lewiston; and her daughter, USAF Tech Sergeant Danielle McAtee and husband, Dwayne, stationed in Hampton, Va.; and five heavenly angels.

She is also survived by sisters, Yolande, wife of Marcel Arel, Lyse, widow of Normand Martineau; brothers, Gerard and wife, Doris Laramee, and Romeo and wife, Terry Laramee; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeannine asks for masses and prayers to be said in her memory, for all to make sacrifices to end all abortions and to pray for priests, all the souls in purgatory, all soldiers and all of the sick and dying.

Many thanks to the Androsccogin Home Hospice and to also the Montello Manor for the wonderful care they provided for Jeannine.
