POLAND — Emily Whittemore of Poland, a senior at Poland Regional High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award, Principal Cari Medd has announced.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Emily is the ultimate good citizen and great student at PRHS. She has been a strong leader as president of our student government and served as a mentor to younger students, providing them with an ally and friend during the transition to high school. Emily has also taken full advantage of all of our academic offerings, challenging herself to excel in all areas of study. In addition, she just recently finished a starring role in our spring musical, ‘Pippin’. Emily has made PRHS a better school during her time here and will be missed.”
Whittemore, Medd and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 11.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. This year an additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.
