MONMOUTH — Southern Kennebec Child Development Corp. is celebrating the 5oth anniversary of the federally funded Head Start program with open houses at 10 early childhood education centers including:

• April 15, 6-7 p.m., Readfield Elementary, art themed activities, 84 South Road, Readfield.

• April 15, 6-7 p.m., Henry L. Cottrell School, math games for children, 169 Academy Road, Monmouth.

• April 15, 6-7 p.m., Winthrop Grade School — “Things That Grow” activities, 23 Highland Ave., Winthrop.

SKCDC congratulates the thousands of alumni from its Head Start preschool programs in central Maine who have grown into successful members of the community.

The organization has operated Head Start programs since 1965, the same year the program was founded.

Are you a former Head Start child or parent? You are invited to an open house to share your story of how Head Start made a positive difference in your life.
