1949 – 2015

AUBURN — Michael Joseph Bouchard, 65, of 370 Old Greene Road, Lewiston, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services in Auburn.

He was born Dec. 29, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Gilman and Jean Mavor Bouchard. He attended local schools and graduated from Central Maine Institute in 1969. He went on to college in Nebraska, then joined the U.S. Navy in 1970. He married Susan Westleigh on Sept. 18, 1970, and had two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Dacia. He worked as an optician for many years and opened his own optical shop, Viewpoint Opticians, in 1978 and ran it until he was forced to close it in 2010 due to his health.

Michael’s favorite times were when he was either with his daughters or grandchildren. He loved his kids! His second love was his camp at Cold Stream Pond, where he spent his time fishing, boating, relaxing and spending time with family and his childhood friends.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Lewiston; his daughters, Jessica of Monmouth, and Dacia and her husband, Andre Horn, of Suisun City, Calif.; four grandchildren, Sage of Monmouth, and Seth, Kole and Luke of Suisun City, Calif.; his father, Gilman of Arizona; and two sisters; Mary Bouchard of New Jersey, and Ann and husband, Jeffrey Crowley, of Wisconsin.

He was predeceased by his mother, Jean, on Jan. 3, 1991.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rivard for his kind and compassionate care, and also the staff of the Hospice House.
