Pet adoption subject of library talk
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Library will welcome local author Leah Haney to lead a discussion on animal rescue and pet adoption at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 27.
Haney, whose family’s roots are in West Paris, has been a veterinary assistant for 10 years and serves on the board of a local animal shelter. She released her first book, “Little Paws and Lion Hearts,” in 2014. She is now working on her second book.

Maine Caregiver 1 training offered
RUMFORD — SeniorsPlus has announced that Savvy Caregiver 1 training will be offered in Oxford county from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays for six weeks, from April 28 through June 2, at the Rumford Armory.
If you are caring for a family member with dementia, this training will help you learn how to take care of yourself, reduce stress and also communicate more easily with your loved one.

Conservation District sells native plants
SOUTH PARIS — Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District will sell native plants for beginning to advanced gardeners throughout Oxford County and the surrounding area.
Native conservation gardening supports native wildlife and conserves Maine’s landscape.
All orders must be received by Thursday, April 30. Pick-up day will be Saturday, May 9, at the Hooker Family Farm, 195 Pleasant St., Oxford.
