RUMFORD — The Regional School Unit 10 board Monday night approved several class trips and a sabbatical for a teacher.

Jessica Swan, a licensed clinician, was granted a one-year sabbatical to complete her doctorate. She will receive half pay during her sabbatical and will be supervised by Special Services Director Clarissa Fish. As part of the agreement, she must return to RSU 10 for a minimum of one year once she has earned her degree.

Class trips approved were:

* May 8 — Mountain Valley Middle School sixth-graders go to Boston.

* May 16-17 — Camping at the The Forks for about 16 members of Dirigo High School Outing Club.

* May 18 — Rumford Elementary School fourth-graders to Bangor and Orono from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In other business, the board accepted the resignations of Administrative Assistant Judy Fulton and athletic trainer Aaron Perreault.

Jonah Williams was appointed Buckfield Middle School varsity baseball coach, Dana Whittemore was appointed Dirigo High School junior varsity baseball coach and Dave Radcliffe was appointed Mountain Valley Middle School junior varsity baseball coach.

A calendar for 2015-16 was approved. Students will begin classes prior to Labor Day and end June 9, 2016.

The board also approved a new cooperative agreement with the Region 9 School of Applied Technology. The only change was the addition of a member from Andover because that town recently withdrew from SAD 44.

Directors also watched a short performance by Room for Improvment from Mountain Valley High School. The group took first place in a recent regional improv competition.
