WILTON — For those who are looking to make a change in careers or get new jobs, the Wilton CareerCenter will offer a variety of programs for job-seekers in May. All workshops and events are held at the CareerCenter unless otherwise noted. Maine veterans receive priority of service in all CareerCenter programs. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
* GATEway to Employment: 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays, May 6 and 20. An overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills as well as CareerCenter and community resources available during a job search.
* Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation: 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7. For people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Registration is not required.
* Essentials of College Planning for Adults: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 14. Covers the basic steps for successful college enrollment. To register, call 800-281-3703. Bring last year’s income tax forms to the appointment.
* Resumes and Interview Skills: Call to schedule. An in-depth exploration of the job search, resumes, applications and interviews. Call 645-5800 to check the schedule of dates and times and to schedule a workshop.
* Small Business Trainings: The Small Business Administration will offer three workshops: “Starting Your Own Small Business,” “Access to Capital” and “Federal and State Resources for Small Business.” Most of these workshops are two hours long. Call the Wilton CareerCenter to sign up for these workshops.
* O*Net Ability Profiler: Call if interested; this workshop requires five or more participants. Results can be used to identify strengths for which more training/education is needed and to identify occupations that fit an individual’s strengths.
