OXFORD — The snow is melting, temperatures are on the rise and the nights are getting longer. It’s time to dust off those lawn chairs, break out the picnic baskets and blankets because the American Legion’s Concerts in the Park series is back.
The Anderson Staples American Legion Post 112 is pleased to announce the return of the popular Tuesday night concerts, which will begin on June 23 and run through Aug. 11. All concerts will be on the grounds of the legion at 169 King St. in Oxford.
“We are very excited to bring back these concerts. It’s a great evening out and we have some real exciting entertainment being scheduled, which includes The Tinpanic Steel Band, the Kora Shriners Band and the Jim Gallant Band,” said post Commander Ed Lyons.
There will be a special dedication concert in the memory of former Sen. Ted Heiderich on July 28, with music being supplied by the 195th Army National Guard Band. Then on Aug. 4, you will be treated to a show you will not forget. Specific details will be announced at a later date.
Concert dates are June 23, July 14, July 28, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11. All concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. and in the event of rain they will be held inside the legion hall. For additional information, please call the legion at 539-2649.
