1928 – 2015
AUGUSTA — Leroy Earl Bragdon Sr., 87, left to be with his wife on Tuesday, April 21.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1928, in Royal Oaks, Mich., the son of Ruth (Inman) Bragdon and Lee Bragdon.
Leroy married Ruby Patterson, the love of his life, on March 23, 1946, in Lisbon, where they ended up residing.
He served honorably in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as being very active in “Missing Children,” where he devoted much of his time.
He worked in construction and was also a truck driver. His hobbies were woodworking and small engine repair.
Leroy and Ruby were married for 56 years and raised 12 children. Ruby passed away on July 1, 2002.
Leroy had a son, Richard Bragdon, who passed away in August 2010. Leroy was also predeceased by granddaughters, Sara Bragdon, on Aug. 24, 2008, and little Janice Pelletier in 1972.
Leroy had a talent of finding four-leaf clovers in the grass wherever he went. His humor and his kindness will be missed by all.
Leroy is survived by seven daughters, Lois Towle of Lewiston, Louise Pelletier of Biddeford, Ruth Thompson and husband, Michael, of Lisbon, Janice Coburn and partner, Leon Kimball, of Wales, Candice McCluskey and husband, Keith, of Lewiston, Lisa Proctor and husband, Jerry, of Lisbon, and Cathy Proctor and husband, Mark, of Lisbon; four sons: Leroy Jr. of Lewiston, Harold and wife, Yvonne, of Oxford, Gerald Bragdon and wife, Selina, of Yarmouth, and Alfred Bragdon and wife, Judy, of Farmington, N.H.
There are too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to count. However, Leroy had a place in his heart for all of them.
