1930 – 2015
LEWISTON — Laurent R. Cote, 84, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 29, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 13, 1930, the son of the late Zackery Cote and Laura Breton. He grew up in Lewiston, where he has been a lifelong resident. In 1949, Larry became a U.S. Marine and proudly served his country.
He enjoyed drinking coffee, watching old movies, snowplowing, working in his cellar and cutting trees. He was a jack-of-all-trades, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
On March 16,1954, he married the love of his life, Patricia “Patsy” Dumond, who recently passed away Nov. 21, 2014, after 60 years of marriage.
Larry was a longtime employee at Snow’s Tire and Retread in Lewiston, and later worked at CMMC Environmental Services for 15 years, and was known as “The Candy Man.”
Larry is survived by four daughters, Debra Landry and husband, Roland, of Lewiston, Diane Auger of Lewiston, Patricia Cote and companion, David Bodge, of Lagrange, and Shelly Godbout and husband, Raymond, of Lewiston; one son, Ricci Cote and wife, Trisha, of Turner; 15 grandchildren, Amy, Jenny, Carlton, Jason, Jamie, Jodi, Ryan, Adam, Sara, Michael, Jen, Zach, Shae, Madison and Brianna; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Lionel “Joe” Cote, Roger Cote and Rene Cote; and one sister, Muguette Derosiers.
