WILTON (AP) — The lawyer for a Maine man charged with killing his grandmother last year said his client still needs to undergo a psychological evaluation and has no scheduled court date.
Police charged Dana Craney of Wilton with murder in the Dec. 20 death of Joanne Goudreau. He remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail. Defense attorney Walter Hanstein says Craney’s “lifetime of mental health issues” means there is a lot of paperwork to go through in the case.
Hanstein requested Craney be sent for a psychological evaluation in January and is still waiting for that to happen. He said Craney won’t appear in court any time soon.
The Kennebec Journal reported that the property where Craney lived with Goudreau has been sold and the trailer they lived in was destroyed in a controlled burn.
