GREENE — Maine State Police on Wednesday charged a local man with possessing child pornography.

, 25, was arrested at his 485 Route 202 home after an examination of his computer revealed images of child porn, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Chretien was charged with possession of sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, McCausland said in a news release.

Chretien was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he remained later Wednesday. 

Police said Chretien works at a Lewiston convenience store and lives at the Route 202 home with his mother and his young son.

Investigators did not say how many images were allegedly found on Chretien’s computer or what prompted them to examine it. The case remained under investigation.
