FARMINGTON — Three Franklin County men were indicted Thursday in separate domestic violence cases against women and a child.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Paul E. Pitcher, 29, of Eustis, on a felony charge of domestic violence assault on a child younger than 6 years old and misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing.

Pitcher is accused of violently assaulting a female companion in March and of spanking the woman’s 4-year-old child on April 22 until he bled, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. previously said.

During an investigation, the woman disclosed that “she was assaulted violently (in March) and was afraid to call it in,” Nichols said. She was choked during the assault, he said.

In a separate case, Robert L. Carver, 73, of Carthage, was indicted on felony charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence terrorizing with a dangerous weapon. He also was indicted on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault.

Carver is accused of strangling a woman and terrorizing her in April, Nichols previously said. The woman escaped the home and fled to the Rumford Police Department to make the report. She told police that Carver “was very intoxicated and had access to a loaded shotgun and a handgun, which was in the bedroom,” according to Nichols.

Hutchinson, 29, is accused of putting a knife to a woman’s throat and choking her in March.

The woman reported the incident to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Colt Bernhardt wrote in his affidavit that the victim had “obvious defensive wounds on her arms” and had “scratches and bruising on her face and neck.”
