1948 – 2015

AUBURN — Robert J. Coulombe, 66, a resident of Auburn, died Friday, May 22, at Hospice House of Androscoggin, following a lingering battle with cancer.

He was born September 4, 1948, in Livermore Falls, the son of Jerome Coulombe and Elizabeth (Stoklas) Coulombe.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Jay High School. He worked for years at International Paper in Jay, left during the strike and worked at Bath Iron Works in Bath, and later returned to International Paper and retired in 2008 from Verso Paper. He was a member of the International Paper Quarter-Century Club.

On December 15, 2001, in Sanford, he married Gail Goldrup and they made their home in Auburn. He enjoyed reading, time on his iPad and spending time with his dog, Abby. Bob especially loved being a homebody and spending time with his wife and family.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Coulombe of Sabattus; special uncle, Louis Stoklas of Jay; his wife, Gail Coulombe of Auburn; two sons, Mark Coulombe of Gardiner and Kevin Coulombe of New Hampshire; stepson, Walter Murch III of Sanford; two grandchildren, Amanda and Zachary Coulombe; sisters, Eileen Baraker of Lewiston; Kathy Rogers and husband, Ralph, of Sabattus, and Margaret Linholm and husband, Ron, of Belgrade.

He was predeceased by his father, Jerome Coulombe.
