AUBURN — Local and state police agencies reported the arrest of a New York man on drug charges Tuesday evening.

Corey McCloud, 19, of Rochester, N.Y., was charged with trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine, according to a statement from Stephen McCausland, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman.

On Tuesday, agents from the Western District Task Force of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Auburn Police were investigating drug trafficking by out-of-state drug distributors in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

At about 8 p.m., Auburn police officers stopped a vehicle connected to the investigation on South Main Street in Auburn, McCausland wrote.

The driver, Paul Davis, 53, of Lewiston, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended operator’s license, McCausland wrote.

McCloud, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested after 96 bags/doses of heroin and 3 grams of crack cocaine were found. McCloud and Davis were transported to the Androscoggin County Jail, where bail was set for McCloud at $2,000 and for Davis at $150, he wrote.

The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $3,500.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated.

On Wednesday, MDEA agents arrested two men in Brunswick and charged them with aggravated trafficking of heroin.
