DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am writing to you because you are the most helpful source of information available to us who need help. We are lucky to have you!
At this time, I am in need of loose-leaf binders and plastic insert pages for collectors’ items. These are for residents of assisted living homes where some residents collect items as a hobby and pastime that they enjoy doing. If anyone has some binders and pages that they no longer need, I would gladly pick them up and pay a reasonable price. My phone number is 207-784-5686. Thank you in advance! — M.D., Auburn.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here I am again asking for Red Rose Tea figurines from the “Wade” collection. I now find I am missing the compass. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount. As for the other two that I previously asked for, I got five calls and was very pleased to get the figurines. Call me at 207-364-3696. Thank you. — Sincerely, Frances.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: We were given an Outback Steakhouse gift card. On the back of the card there are other places to redeem the card: Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s, Roy’s (not the Roy’s in Auburn), and Fleming’s. Any information on this would be appreciated. We know that the Outback has closed in Maine. Thank you. — No Name, No Town.
ANSWER: Sun Spots used a restaurant locator online and found that the nearest Outback Steakhouse (to Lewiston) is the new Outback Seabrook at 712 Lafayette Road (phone 603-474-1103) which opened its doors on May 4, 2015, in New Hampshire. Bloomin’ Brands Inc. is the parent company of the restaurants listed on the back of your gift card. Sun Spots did not find any of these restaurants nearer than the Outback Seabrook. For more information, you can call 813-282-1225 or write to the home office at: Bloomin’ Brands, Inc., 2202 N. West Shore Blvd., Suite 500, Tampa, FL 33607.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to tell your readers that there is an excellent opportunity for the many people who are culling out their basements, homes and garages at this time of year. I hate seeing the many wonderful useable items on the side of the road to be picked up by the trash collectors so I would like to propose another avenue for them.
Sacred Heart Church is having a parish yard sale at the church’s parking lot behind the buildings at 1 Sacred Heart Place, corner of Minot and Western avenues in Auburn from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, with a rain date of Saturday, June 13.
Anyone wishing to drop off items that they wish to donate for the yard sale can do so at the garage behind the Sacred Heart School building, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, and from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 3 and 4.
Or you can sell your own items at our sale by renting a table. Call Bonnie at 207-783-9608 or Aleta at 207-966-3699 for details.
Leftover items will be donated to the Cure for AT (Ataxia telangelasia).
No electronics over five years old or clothing for older children and adults. Thank you. — Rita Melendy, Auburn.
