Kyle Treadwell took advantage of a restart with three laps remaining Saturday night to score the first Super Late Model feature win of his career at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Treadwell drove away from three past champions on his way to the checkered flag. He made his move after Scott Robbins dominated most of the event.
Robbins was second, followed by Tim Brackett, Shawn Martin and Vanna Brackett. Gunnar Rowe, Chris Coolidge and Justin Gibbons also led the event before Robbins took over near the halfway mark.
Ryan Robbins won an event for the PASS Modified Series, prevailing in a tough battle with Andy Shaw. Mike Carignan, Ryan Phillips and Scott Alexander completed the top five.
Josh Childs swept the evening in Street Stock competition, winning his heat race before a wire-to-wire victory in the feature. Keith Stuart made a late-race charge but settled for second with Paul Harmon, Jordan Russell and Calvin Rose Jr. in tow.
Oxford’s Bandit division grew again to a season-high 18 cars, with veteran Kyle Hewins taking the win in the stock class. Sean McGuinn applied some pressure in the late stages and was a career-best second, leading Dustin Salley, Troy Smith and Jason Cummings across the stripe. Dan Wade led briefly before a crash took him out of the running.
Jon Lizotte, 65, prevailed in the return of Oxford’s historic Figure Eight class. Lizotte, a past multi-time champion, led a field of four in what will be a semi-regular appearance for the division, which last competed at OPS in 1988. Hewins took second.
Cusack right at home
Nick Cusack, whose family has owned Beech Ridge Motor Speedway since his grandfather Ralph purchased the facility more than three decades ago, steered his NASCAR Pro Series ride to victory in a caution-free, 50-lap dash Saturday night.
It wasn’t an easy route to victory lane, with rookie Garrett Hall making a spirited charge at the finish. John Peters was third.
Defending track champion Dave Farrington Jr. crossed the line eighth.
Clyde Hennessey Jr. won a Sport Series feature for the first time since 2008. Phil Pinkham and Tom Bennett completed the top three.
Mac Hannan Jr. claimed the Wildcat win ahead of Jon Brill and Adam Lovejoy.
Chubbuck in familiar territory
The dominant driver in Pro Stock history at Wiscasset Speedway returned to the winner’s circle Saturday night, with Scott Chubbuck carrying the checkers at the end of the 40-lap main event.
James Osmond finished second, followed by Kevin Morse, Phil Richardson and Sulo Burbank.
Josh Bailey collected the Super Street win ahead of Dan Trask, Adam Chadbourne, Jason Curtis and Brandon Sprague.
Kamren Knowles held off his sister, Brooke, for the New England 4-Cylinder Pro victory. Craig Dunn of Strong completed the podium, followed by Bob Patten and Jacob Hendsbee.
Cody Tribbet posted the Thunder 4 Mini triumph, leading Michael Harrison, Curtis Anderson, Leandra Martin and David Greenleaf across the line.
Kevin Girard continued his strong season in NELCAR Legends with a victory over Bob Weymouth, Matt Grant, Tyler Braunschweig and Matt Bourgoine.
Helliwell edges Mother Nature
Wayne Helliwell Jr. beat the rain at Speedway51 (formerly Riverside) in Groveton, N.H., Saturday night, winning an American-Canadian Tour event that was shortened from 151 to 91 laps due to evening showers. Helliwell took the lead from Eddie MacDonald six laps before conditions deteriorated.
It was Helliwell’s second ACT victory of the season. Derrick O’Donnell, Jeff Marshall, Joey Polewarczyk and Kyle Welch completed the top five in a 30-car field. Travis Stearns (14th) of Auburn and Jeff White (17th) of Winthrop also finished on the lead lap.
