LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen on Tuesday scheduled a special meeting for June 10 to order a new plow truck, if voters approve the purchase the day before.
Public Works Foreman Bill Nichols said he wants to order a truck so it would be ready before next winter. He has received quotes of $85,900 and $87,775, with trade-in for the 1998 model.
If the question passes, selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10; if it does not, there will be no meeting.
Nichols also updated the board on planned paving projects for the summer that include Water, Green and Legendary streets, and Heritage Lane. He said the low bid came from Spencer Group in Turner at a cost of $73.82 per ton of base mix. The projects are contingent on passage of the public works article by voters next week.
Patrolman Daniel Chabot submitted his resignation from the Police Department.
Town Manager Kristal Flagg said bids have been submitted to the state for construction of a sidewalk along a section of Depot Street. The bid amounts were not disclosed Tuesday.
She said state officials have not yet authorized the project, but it’s hoped the work will begin this month or next so the project can be completed in September.
In another matter, Flagg told the board that an Androscoggin Greenway Community Forest Celebration will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Spruce Mountain Middle School. The meeting and update on the community forest project is sponsored by the Androscoggin Land Trust.
