PORTLAND — Chip Morrison’s first post-chamber job: Temporarily heading the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The foundation announced Friday that he will serve as its interim executive director.

Morrison, who this week retired as president of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce after 20 years, said he was excited about the challenge.

He’s expecting to stay three to four months and has said he has plans to start his own company providing temporary leadership to nonprofits later this year.

“It lets me test out what I wanted to do, but more than that, it’s a fabulous organization,” Morrison said.

Make-A-Wish has granted more than 1,200 wishes in Maine to children ages 2 to 18 with life-threatening illnesses.

“Chip brings an expertise, depth of knowledge and expansive connections that will greatly enhance the organization and the Maine kids we serve,” board president Michael Celeste said in a newes release.

“The need has never been greater,” Celeste said. “We currently have 96 kids awaiting their wish and searched for a candidate that could hit the ground running. With Chip, we found just that candidate.”
