DIXFIELD — Residents will vote on a $2.3 million municipal budget at the polls Tuesday, June 9.

Balloting will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion hall.

Town Manager Carlo Puiia said the budget is 133,000 more than this fiscal year.

For the third time in three years, residents will decide whether to approve an amended Wind Energy Facility Ordinance.

The first one was approved in November 2012. but in early 2013 selectmen voted to have the Planning Board amend some language. In August 2014, voters approved a six-month moratorium to allow time to complete the revisions and extended it another six months in January.

The Planning Board brought its recommendations to selectmen, who made revisions and put it on the November 2014 ballot. The article called for repealing the original ordinance and adopting the amended version. Voters rejected it, 553-567.

That prompted selectmen to remove the amendments they made and put the Planning Board’s original draft on the June 9 ballot.

Puiia told residents and selectmen that the ordinance approved in November 2012 is in effect and if the Planning Board draft is approved Tuesday, the 2012 ordinance would be repealed and the new ordinance would take effect.

Patriot Renewables LLC of Quincy, Mass., approached Dixfield officials three years ago about constructing wind turbines on the Colonel Holman Mountain ridge.

Tom Carroll, project coordinator for Patriot Renewable, told selectmen in April that the ordinance’s 35-decibel limit for the nighttime would likely prohibit development of a wind project in town.

A second ordinance, Recall of Elected Municipal Officers, would allow residents to seek removal of officials from their positions, with the exception of school board members.

Article 27 asks residents if they wish to authorize the Board of Selectmen to use up to $10,000 from the Ione Harlow Dixfield Community Fund to purchase and install an electronic message board at the Town Office on Main Street.

The fund has $52,405.50.
