JAY — Selectpersons voted Monday night to give full-time nonunion workers a 1.5 percent raise for 2015-16 beginning on July 1, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said Tuesday.

The action followed an executive session.

Prior to the session, police Chief Richard Caton IV submitted quotes from three dealerships with each one containing two different options. The difference in prices was the trade-in value, Caton said.

The board voted to buy a 2016 Ford Interceptor sport utility cruiser from Farmington Ford for $23,283.44 with a road-ready package. The amount factors in an $8,000 trade-in for the 2012 Expedition that has about 150,000 miles on it.

The board also approved spending $3,269 on a Motorola police radio package for the cruiser.

Selectpersons also voted to amend the town’s Cemetery Policy to make the setting of bases for headstones a responsibility of the funeral homes. Currently, the town is responsible for it, with some exceptions, and charges $150 for each base set.

The town is not making money on setting them, LaFreniere said.

“We are trying to do more with less and this seems like a place we can save,” she said.
